Who are We?
UUism
is a liberal religion
with Jewish - Christian roots.
We
have no creed. This
is because we do not limit our beliefs to any single book, prophet, or person.
Instead, we advocate freedom of belief and the continuing search for the truth.
We
affirm the inherent worth and dignity of all human beings. We
provide a warm, open, supportive community for people to express their ideas,
and grow intellectually and spiritually.
We
believe that ethical
living is the supreme witness of religion.
We
support
the views of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Programs
The core of our Fellowship is the Sunday morning meeting which provides us with social and intellectual stimulation. Typically, a knowledgeable speaker will talk for 30 - 40 minutes on a selected topic. This will be followed by a discussion of the topic at hand. This is an essential aspect of the program because it provides the audience members an opportunity to present their own opinions, and further delve into the topic presented.
Sometimes we have musical programs, poetry readings, traditional worship services, or non-traditional services. The programs are suggested by the members.
In addition, we have supported a book discussion group, spiritual growth group, and a cosmology discussion group. Plus, you won't want to miss our occasional wine tasting, group outing, or protest march!
